Hi

New member here and glad to say what a great community!

Due to a growing family, I have been shopping around for a 7-8 seater car, test drove a 2022 Kia Carnival, and family loved it. I proceeded to place an order for a 2022 Kia Carnival Platinum in November this year, howver I was warned/told that the wait would be around 12-18 months for the petrol version. The reason being that there is a semiconductor shortage and Kia cannot start manufacturing these cars until the shortage is resolved.

I am from Australia, however I am wondering if this is only affecting the Australian market because I am seeing some members in here receiving their 2023 Kia Carnivals.

12-18 months wait is quite a long wait, and we never know what will happen. Have twin babies due in May '23 so we're hoping we can get the Carnival by then. Would be good to know if the wait is standard globally?

Cheers

We got a 2023 at the end of June this year. Bought it from the dealer as it was arriving to them from the port. (Virginia - USA). Had to pay a $5 or $6k markup through the dealer though, but we had the same situation with baby #3 coming in July and no room for 3 car seats in our old vehicles.

Surely someone has some information from Kia when they will start manufacturing the Carnival? Kia is still playing ads for the Carnival, dealers taking deposits yet not being to fulfill orders sith no ETA in sight.

Brisbane AUSTRALIA here. Ordered in April 22 and told 12months for Petrol. Called in October and told wait extended indefinitely could be another 18months. Told to switch to Diesel to stay on 6 month time line. Price had actually dropped $800 since April so i only had to pay $1200 more. I asked about the rumour that others were being offered only $1000 to go for Diesel but dealer said that was only for orders from 2021.
Going to be dissappointed now to wait this long and still get analogue dash while they have sorentos with the digital dash. Like the Koreans are short of screens. Apparently its the chinese chips which are in lockdown. Sounds Chinese sabotage, maybe i should just buy their mpv it does have some cool features. I heard they are bring an Electic people mover to Australia soon for $130k most expensive chinese car ever in Aus.

You would think they would look at alternative suppliers of screens or chips... but they're not? Yet they're continuing to advertise the Carnival here in Australia.

I ordered my Carnival in Dec of 2021 and still do not have any information on when the car will be available. Why do they advertise this car if they do not plan on selling it. I think they are losing a lot of business right now
