After a near miss from a scammer pedestrian, I have been meticulous about having a dash cam running in my other vehicle. It occurred to me that the OEM cameras installed on modern vehicles could theorectically be made to record whatever they see on a SDHC chip and thus make it unnecessary for the owner to provide his own dash cam. Has any manufacturer ever done this? Would be interested in any comments on this issue.

Great idea! I use the app to request a 360 degree photo every now and then. Some enterprising code breaker might figure out a way to add a hard drive to the existing hardware and just reprogram the software to provide a continuous string of photos every few seconds...

If you find someone that can retrofit the Carnival to do this, let me know. Honestly, I'd settle for the ability to display the cameras at speeds above 7mph. Not that I'm Jeff Gordon but when cruising through a very large parking garage -- at 8mph, it's really helpful to have the cameras on.
