Android auto with wifi hot spot?

I recently purchased a Kia Carnival LXS and am a little confused as to how to use my verizon hotspot and use wireless android auto at the same time. When my phone automatically connects to android auto on start-up, I see on the wifi setting in my phone it says kia with some numbers after. When I select my verizon hot spot in wifi setting, the kia screen says I'm disconnected from android auto. The kia screen does still indicate being connected to my device via bluetooth - not that that helps much.

Can this really be true, that I can't use my hot spot if I want wireless android auto? Seems like a huge oversight for those that want to conserve their phone data, but I also admit I haven't read through the whole manual yet, so maybe I'm missing something obvious here.

Any help is appreciated!

That's not a Kia issue. It's how the phone works. You can only be connected to one WiFi network at a time. Wireless AA basically acts like a WiFi network.

Funny though, I always thought hotspot data plans were more expensive per GB than cellular plans. I figured you'd wanna conserve your hotspot data.
I use a hot spot for work. Otherwise I'd agree with you! But I see your point. Thanks for the input!
