Hello,
I got SXP 2023 recently, whenever I plug in my Android or Iphone , its takes hell lot of time to charge ( like 6-8 hrs) via wired to the USB. Its a nightmare especially you are on low charge and need to go somewhere.
Is there no option to do fast charging your phone ?
Short answer, no. See below for longer response.
I'm definitely not a professional so I can't claim to know absolutely everything on this, but I believe vehicle chargers in general tend to be slow. It could also be your cord. If you are an Android user, there are several different types of USB-c cords that charge at different rates. If you are an iPhone user then you could be using an aftermarket lightning cable. Overall it's hard to say really, I haven't really noticed slow charging.
Actually, I just remembered, the USB port for Android Auto is mainly for data transfer, not power. Again, I can't definitively confirm this but I believe the USB port to the left of the Android Auto port charges a LOT faster. Hope this helps!
I'm a bit of a nerd, so I can dive deeper for you. Fair warning, I'm going to throw around a bunch of acronyms.
Fast charging is handled by a cluster of different technologies used by different phone OEM's and none of them are cross-compatible, so you first need to know which flavor of fast charging your device uses. Despite the various technologies available, most modern phones are compatible with the USB-PD spec for fast charging, but that requires the
charging supply to have a USB-C connection. So naturally, any USB-A connection will not be compatible with the USB-PD fast charging protocol and your device will only charge at the max rate of the USB-A port, which is typically around 2 amps. That's objectively not fast by today's standards. If you want true fast charging, you need to insert a compatible (to your specific device) 12v adapter into the back of the armrest. Otherwise, you will charge normally in a powered USB-A port or slow charge in the data USB-A port.
Clear as mud?
