Awesome. Thank you and glad you had some helpers pull you back out. I would need a full on D12 to get me back out.
Where do I order the OEM light kit? And was it plug in play? Thanks.Just received my Curt hitch from E trailer.com. Going to install tomorrow. I am using the Kia OEM wiring harness for lights.
Google 2022 Kia Carnival trailer wiring harness. You will get several hits and dealers to order factory wiring. Yes plug and play. Under the cover you remove to mount the hitch on the drivers side is the vehicle wiring harness with a dead end plug with a removable cap. You remove the plug cap and plug in the OEM Kia wiring harness. That’s it. The rest is just zip tying the wire leed containing the 4 wire plug to the trailer hitch middle. OEM hitch has a mount for the 4 wire plug to mount on. The Kurt hitch does not have this mount. I just zip tied the 4 wire plug on the outside edge of the left safety chain mount.Where do I order the OEM light kit? And was it plug in play? Thanks.
I forgot to post these before I left on vacation.Any pictures from a littler further away? Some the pictures in the thread make it look like it hangs down really low. It would be nice to have it as hidden as possible.
Does anyone have a 7 point wiring harness installed? Is there a natural spot to attach it to? In the past I installed a Curt hitch on our Sedona (very easy install as is being described above), but the wiring receptacle had to hang below the receiver and scraped the ground when entering certain steep driveways. I'd like to avoid this on our Carnival.
This, so much this... I'm holding out hoping one will be produced. I'd even pay to replace the bumper cover.Since Kia is making a big deal with 3500lbs towing capacity even showing it off in advertisements, they should have designed a hitch that is built into the bumper like many other cars. To me it's one of the fails.
Am holding out as well.I'll pull off bumper cover one weekend to see if it's even possible
could i see a picture of your hitch installed? is it straight on one side of the reciever and curved on the other? This is the Kia Hitch. After waiting over a month for the Curt and then being told " We have no idea when it will be in." , I bit the bullet and bought the Kia hitch and wiring harness. View attachment 336

I've had a Curt hitch on my Grand Cherokee for years. No rust, no issues ever. Will check them out for our Carnival. Thanks!Curt MFG just put a 2” hitch on their web site for $290. Part #13478.
Assuming this is because you needed trailer braking / a 7-wire system instead of the 4-wire it comes with? Yes, I agree that's a shortcoming, especially when the similar Telluride comes with 7-wire.The hitch is no problem for the Can'n LX...BUT the wiring harness IS !...no Plug'n play...had to have it " Hard Wired" and still does not work with a young Rockwood Freedom tent trailer; have to revisit the installer !! NOT a fan of Kia for this skimping on the easy wiring system !!
I put a Curt hitch of design very much like that for the 2023 Kia Carnival on my 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Horrible rusting tendencies on all exposed metal.I've had a Curt hitch on my Grand Cherokee for years. No rust, no issues ever. Will check them out for our Carnival. Thanks!
