Are the buttons near the map lamps illuminated?

I just picked up an SX-P and am loving it. I noticed while driving last night that the buttons on the ceiling near the map lamps didn’t seem to be illuminated. Is this true for other Carnivals? It seems silly that the buttons for the map lamps and room lamps are not lit up so that you could turn them on in the dark.

Well, I just tried out my SXP and no lit buttons. Even hit the UVO button by mistake. You are right, they should light up.

If the SX-P doesn't have a feature, then it's highly unlikely any other trim does (wireless Android Auto being the exception).
I was wondering the same in my EX. These buttons should illuminate similar to the rear climate controls. Thanks for the confirmation.

You have to press the actual light
This seems so crazy. The power doors and tailgate buttons should be up there so both driver snd passenger can access. Another strange oversight. Our SXL has everything up there illuminated. You just press the map lights themselves to turn on. Seems strange to take that functionality away

Does anyone know what purpose the 3 little lights are on the ceiling serve? There are 3 in the 3rd row and another 3 in the middle rows. They don't seem to ever illuminate??

I believe they are the rear occupancy sensors.
It’s a safety thing.
It seems possible but the passenger airbag status light is up there too and that does illuminate.

Our other car (not a Kia) has also has illuminated buttons in the same location.

I’m hoping that something was left unplugged but unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be the case.

You have to put the button to “door” then they will turn on when doors are open

This! They are Dome/Map lights and you can turn them on manually or have them turn on every time the doors open.

I was also surprised that the buttons for the map light, UVO, and sunroof do not light up at night on my SX-P. Glad to know it's not just me (although I wish it was so then it could be fixed). I have it in for service right now and the service rep is looking into whether it is supposed to light up or not. Even he thought it should, and the sales guys aren't sure either because the car is so new. I'm sad to read here it's just an oversight/design decision by Kia. Bummer.

I will check mine tomorrow night and I will let you know..I have the SX-P also..
My SX-P does not light up those buttons. Doesn't look like they are made to be lit up either.

No they don’t.. the only thing lit up there is the button for the lights to turn on when doors are open at night time so you can see.. (on right middle..for doors)
I know this thread is old but did anyone find a solution to the button illumination issue? I just had ours out at night for the first time and had trouble finding the buttons in the dark. I was watching a carnival review from Asia tonight and noticed the buttons were illuminated. I feel like this is an assembly/manufacturing error from the factory. The carnival in the video was right hand drive. I wonder if the defect is isolated to left hand drive models. Australian or Asian owners please let us know if your map light buttons illuminate.

This remains one of the Carnival's absolute WORST features. My 2018 Sedona SX-L had illuminated buttons and switches in this position. This must be a cost cutting move on Hyundai/Kia's part as I noticed in my father's 2020 Palisade Limited that his buttons/switches in that location are not illuminated either. The number of times I have needed to turn on my interior lights at night and have been unable to because I can't find the button...it is insane.
