We ordered a carnival in June with a trunk “cargo lighting kit”. My understanding was that was an extra light in the trunk. The dealer sold that car out from under us and now we are in the process of getting a new one but I don’t see the cargo lighting kit as an option, just “interior lighting kit”. I have no interest in that silly pin light or colored lights but want more light in the trunk area if possible. Anyone know what the change is all about? Or have the interior light kit to confirm how much more lighting is in the back? Thanks!

What trim are you looking at getting? The SXP with the LED lighting lights up the area just fine and others on the forum have changed out the lightbulbs to LEDs with positive effect.

We have small kiddos, so opted for the EX model with lots of upgrades, so not the lighting of an SXP unfortunately. Might need to look into the lightbulb replacement. Thanks!

At the risk of starting another discussion about factory orders, if you're in a hurry to get the vehicle, you may want to consider sticking to dealer inventory. There are too many reports of the Kia factory no longer accepting orders to trust that yours has actually been received.

That being said, there is a standard dome light in the cargo area for all trims which does the job of illuminating the cargo area. No special lighting kit is required. All the lighting kit options are for additional "mood" lighting that can change colors around your feet. Honestly, I don't understand why these lighting kits that were popular with teenagers at Autozone have now become factory offering. shrug

How did the dealer sell the car out from underneath of you?
