Carnival’s Drawbacks

Hi all!
I have been waiting with my vehicle upgrade for the Carnival. I love the machine and wanted to get it but below are the letdowns :(
What do you think?

1. Why am I forced to go with black wheels if I want one of the SX trims? It should’ve been an option (like Chrysler’s S Appearance)

2. Top trim only comes with 7 pax seating

3. Digital cluster, heated steering wheel, auto dimming rearview mirror (believe it?) are only available on top trim which automatically excludes me and all others who need an 8 passenger vehicle. (I’ll forgive the LED headlights and sunroof)

4. Even top trim doesn’t offer auto dimming side mirrors

Overall, Kia is pretty inconsistent with the features they offer for each trim level. While they include some extra gadgets in the lower EX trim (intercom, passenger view camera, etc.) they don’t offer everyday useful driving features on the SX trim

PS
Is rain sensing wipers an available option?

I did not like the turn signals in the bumper, but decided I could live with it. Now I have ordered a hitch for the car, I realize my bike rack will block the turn signals. Arrgh!

Can you please share a picture of the hitch when you have it installed? Am interested to see if the whole hitch is visible and if it lowers the car’s clearance like the sienna that looks like a U-Hall hitch or do you only see the receiver like the odyssey?
Just got an SX Prestige and when I try to mirror movies that I own, or to use an entertainment app it says that it can’t be displayed. Anyone else having this issue or found a fix? At this point the rear entertainment seems to only be good for YouTube and Netflix.
I have the SX prestige, my mirrors are programmed with my setting.
How are you able to cast/mirror videos? I’m trying (with an iPhone) and I keep getting error messages that the video can’t be displayed
I think I read somewhere on this forum that iPhone users need a 3rd party app to cast content to these screens. Android users do not, likely because these screens run on Android.
Might need to start a PSA thread on this specific topic. You need the RSE Remote outlined in the manual. From there you can pretty much mirror anything. Other options include hard wire with lightning to HDMI or installing a Roku or Fire Stick.

Thx! That looks like the OEM right? Did you install it yourself? Am considering doing it myself if not too involved...

Yes, the supplemental manual for the screens says that airplay works if the device is using its own hot spot. I haven’t played with them at all yet to determine if it has the be the devices hot spot or “any” hot spot.

None of my kids’ apple devices have LTE, all wifi only. So I may be out of luck.

Yes OEM Kia hitch. I installed myself-six bolts and some trimming of black plastic. A bit of pain lowering the exhaust hanger to get the hitch around the exhaust. I back the van up on some bricks on a curb.
What is the ground clearance from the bottom of the hitch? I think we will need to avoid rough roads.

9.5 inches in the center about 9 on the edges. I will put a riser receiver (see pic) I will just reverse the ball on this dropper receiver.

Thx! This is helpful. Also saw your other pictures from another post. Did the hitch come with clear installation instructions? How did you figure out what and how much to cut or how to lower the exhaust hanger - or is it just common sense?

here's the piece of trim I had to cut- dimensions given in instructions.

My 2007 Odyssey is completely concealed (other than the receiver) which looks much better, but it is only one inch higher off the ground than yours, because the Carnival without a hitch has the highest ground clearance in the minivan category.

Overall ground clearance for the Carnival is 6.8 inches, so 9 for the hitch is good.

Yeah, I think the Odyssey is 4.5" and the Sienna 6.3"
Thank you, that's a very good suggestion.
did that work or did you find another work around?
