I picked up my new lx last Saturday and have already taken it back 3 times as a check engine light keeps coming on…well it will be 4 times today. The dealership clears the code and it is good for a day then it comes back on, they are saying it is an issue with the air fuel mixture. Anyone else have any similar issues…I am about ready to go back to my old grand caravan!!!

It's probably because they don't want to replace the MAF sensor which can be pretty expensive. I wouldn't take the vehicle back if they just clear the code a fourth time. Also, it may not help, but call Kia Corporate Customer Relations. At least it will be logged as a case and depending on your consumer protection laws, might enable you for lemon law protections if it isn't able to be resolved. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Also lemon laws kick in after a number of attempts to fix a problem (depends on what state you are in). Mentioning that, if it applies in your state, might motivate them to make more effort.
Good luck!

After looking online I see that there was a closed recall on my van for a bad fuel rail. It says that it has been completed/replaced but I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to confirm that in fact it has been replaced and not just inspected. But I am thinking that is the problem with my van

Just heard back from dealership, they think they have found the issue with the check engine light coming on..a bad injector. ( I wonder if it got damaged when they replaced the fuel rail?) fingers crossed when they get the part this solves the issue.
I think you are the second person here to mention a bad fuel injector. Hopefully that resolves the issue!

Did the new injector fix the issue? I have a new carnival LX with the exact same issue. Dealership just resets the code and send me all the way. Kia corporate tells me that then can’t approve anything without it being diagnosed. Kia dealership says they can’t diagnose a historic code and as soon as the light comes on I need to immediately come to the dealership Which is 45 minutes from my house.

Yes the new injector fixed the issue and I have driven 5000km since they replaced it and no issues!! When the check engine light came on the code they got was for cylinder 6. They took that injector out and switched it with the one from cylinder 1 cleared the code, took the van for a long drive and then check engine light came back on. When they checked the code this time it was an issue with cylinder 1. That is how they diagnosed the issue. Hope this helps

Same as mine. We bought an XL also. I have it since almost 8 months now and its been 5 times that the check engine light comes on!! Tomorrow will be the second time at the garage.. would have been the third time because I cancelled my appointement during Christmas (the cruise control couldnt work either...). They always say "if it doesn't blink, theres nothing to worry about" -_-
Keep you posted...
Do you still have the same problem?

Not only have I had the problem, it is even worse now and it will be weeks, perhaps months before the dealership will even take a look at it and they have no loaners available so if I leave it with them I have no car. It was flashing last night on the way to the airport and shaking much more violently all the way there and back. Today it's as if nothing happened and the light is out. I'll find out when I go to the beach to check the surf later but very disappointed with zero service from KIA. Love the car but the service is non existent at all of their dealerships in my area.

Your dealership is trash. I understand being booked, but even in a world with no loaner cars (because that is typical these days), any dealership can send you to a local rental car place and cover your rental while the vehicle is being serviced. My local Kia dealer does that.

Finally some very good news. They took my Carnival in sooner than expected. They could not reproduce the problem but took care of a lot that needed doing and did it very well. Was pretty pleased that they handed it over to their most experienced mechanic who did a great job. They flushed the fuel injectors and the problem seems to have gone away. They also followed up and were very positive and responsive to my needs.

When we bought ours new the AC wasn't quite keeping up. We took it back finally after it was not working a few weeks later and they added UV dye and Freon. At the 4,000 mile mark there was no AC again we took it in for an oil change and they found the problem, it was an O-ring that was improperly installed during the assembly process. The air conditioning has been fine ever since, however now we are at 10,000 miles and I am pretty sure there is a wheel bearing failing. We called last week and are waiting to take it in (again) later this week, as it was the first open appointment and was told there were no loaners available. Thank goodness we have other vehicles. The OP stated they missed their Caravan well I am starting to miss my Pacifica, especially every time we need to use the rear seats as we have car seats in the second row. I am starting to feel like you have to have a back up vehicle to own one of these things.

Pretty much most of the dealerships have long waiting periods right now. When my catalytic converter and transmission went on the way back from an art show that was it for me with the Dodge. No warning at all, just conked out.
