Hello All!

Driving home from the dealer with my new Carnival EX, and I couldn't get my phone to charge wirelessly. My wife swears there is a piece missing, but I can't find any good pictures online to see what this wireless charger should look like.

Can anyone confirm that this is what it's supposed to look like and that a piece isn't missing? I've had nothing but trouble with my dealer, so I would NOT be surprised if they messed something ELSE up.

Thanks!

Thanks!
Your wife is right. there is a piece missing, but you answered a question that many of us had - the manual said the wireless phone charger is cooled/ventilated, but it didn't seem that way when we all checked, because the piece you are missing (which is probably just a cover and a rubber mat) is blocking the cooling vents.
Does AC come out of these vents?

I know my Sorento has a feature in the set up menu that you access through the steering wheel control that allows you to turn on the feature...I assumed they had a physical button this time. Try looking into the set up menu to turn the feature on.
It's the top left button on the right side of the steering wheel controls. Press it until you see User settings.... convenience....turn on wireless charging. Hope that helps.

Thank you! There is no AC coming out of the vents, guess we need to call the dealer about our missing mat!
Correcting my previous post. I was wrong. It is just a rubber mat, and there is no additional cover. This morning I thought I would take a picture for you of what it looked like under the mat only to realize the only thing you are missing is that mat. Mine without the mat looks exactly like yours. Forgot to check if any AC is coming out of the vents. Will check and report back if it is.
Your phone should charge without that mat it if it is capable for wireless charging.

I also checked that AC isn't coming out from the vents under my mat. People were complaining about their phones heating up while charging, but the manual says the pad should be ventilated/cooled.
If you are going to the dealership to get the mat, I would ask why the wireless charging pad is not cooling, and if AC is suppose to come out of the vents.

It won't be AC. It will be a tiny fan moving a small amount of air across the charging coils at the most. Probably too low of airflow for you to notice, but it's definitely too low to keep the phone cool.

You are right. After thinking about it a little more, AC wouldn't make sense and it would have to be a dedicated system that is independent of the car AC and its operation.
