New LX S. We were idling in a parking lot (AC running, probably 89F outside) late this evening (sunset) for maybe 30 minutes. My child told us the metal rails on the floor were too hot to stand on. I felt them and sure enough they were uncomfortably hot (not hot enough to burn me.) These would be the center rails - the center seat was slid all the way back to the 3rd row and he was standing between the 2nd row seats playing.

It was definitely hotter in the center, right around the 2nd row. The rails for the left and right seats were warm but definitely not hot, and the far forward and rear of the center rails weren't bad either. I felt down inside the rail and it really wasn't any hotter in there - just on the kind of rounded "cap" on either side of the actual rail slot (the part the carpet tucks under, I think.)

Was wondering if anyone else had noticed this? There was definitely a lot of heat coming out back at the liftgate from the exhaust when I was loading up from the store.

Thanks!

Hadn't touched the rails, but now that summer is here, I've noticed the heat that radiates from under the car when standing at the sliding doors is enough to make my legs feel uncomfortably warm.

I’ve been have the same issue with my 2022 carnival but mine happens when I’ve been driving for maybe 10 minutes the 2 most center tracks will be so hot that I’m afraid that a kid will get a bad burn if they stepped on it barefoot. I brought this issue up with Kia and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. Have you found any way to fix it?

I am doing research on the Carnival. Now you guys make me don’t want to buy the car.

I am afraid my little ones Get burned.
I own two currently. I haven't had any other issues. As long as you don't stand for a long period of time it won't burn them. Think of it like a plate right out the microwave. Hot enough to hold for a couple seconds but not hot enough to burn. I am going to contact a couple of dealerships to see what they are saying about this issue since mine is x2 😂

That makes me feel a little better. I am going to place an order for SXP. By the time I get it hopefully this has a solution. I will probably get a 2024 model since the wait time is so long. Lol

We just picked our SX Carnival (US version) up last week and I noticed this as well. I got under the vehicle to look at how things were situated. I see the exhaust runs down the center essentially. It makes me wonder if they put enough heat shielding, or maybe there is just no where for the heat to go when still. I did notice as well there are quite a few fabric aero panels underneath.

Could you measure the temperature? $20-30 infrared thermometer could do this trick and quantify this problem and show if this is a burn or even fire hazard ?
