Hi guys I've been reading a while and am getting ready to place a new order for an sx prestige. I'm in western PA and have found a local dealer that will sell at MSRP without any surprise fees.

Just wondering if the factory trailer hitch is a class I or class III and of you include the tow hitch option does that also provide the wiring?

The salesmen don't seem to be sure.

I have installed several aftermarket hitches on my Subaru's in the past so I have the skill but it always seems like something that doesn't really go with the car. I was hoping the factory hitch would be a bit more hidden since they charge quite a bit for it.

Kiastuff.com (who sells OEM parts) lists it as a 2" (class III) receiver.

Do look into aftermarket hitches. I've been seeing reports of the OEM trailer hitch scraping pavemt on steep hills. I don't think the aftermarket hitches are any better, though.

I have this same question - I am picking up a SX Prestige with the factory hitch but it is unclear if that also includes the wiring. Can anybody verify? It would be really weird for that to not be included.

I bought a factory hitch from the dealership, separately from the carnival purchase. It doesn't come with the wiring but it does come with a receiver (no ball) and the bracket to hold the 4 pin wiring connector. I bought the Tekonsha 118784 wiring kit from Amazon to save some money. If the dealership is installing the hitch, I would think the wiring is included.

Thanks for this! I am getting the hitch from the factory so I’m so curious if it comes with the wiring or not. Hope so. Even though it’s not hard to install the aftermarket ones, it’s just a cleaner install when it’s from the factory.
