HDA auto speed adjust

So I have set the speed settings to stay 5 miles above the current speed limit under the HDA settings, but the only thing that it does is when the speed limit changes, it prompts me to press the up/down arrow to set the speed +5mph as per my setting. An example :
Lets say i'm driving at 70 Mph with cruise control set on a freeway with a speed limit of 70, and my HDA icon is fully green. Now when the speedlimit changes to 75mph, shouldnt hda automatically update the cruise control speed to 80mph based on my setting? What I observe is that it only sets the speed to 75mph i.e. the exact speed limit and does not honor the +5mph setting i've made.

Is this a bug? or am I just not clear about how this feature is supposed to work?

I've had the same questions as well but mostly because I've not read that part of the manual yet. :)

I did try that option before posting it here, but the manual doesnt talk about the exact functionality of the +-5 mph setting.

I will try to pay attention next time I drive, but I believe what is happening is when I am driving at 50 speed limit with setting of +5 and I set it to follow the speed limit it will set on 55. When speed limit changes let's say to to 65, I get a notification with an upward arrow flashing as well as the speed limit flashing as well. I have to then adjust on the steering wheel the speed up (one long push up) and it will adjust to 70 (65+5). Will confirm next time I drive...

Thats my exact experience too, But apparently from the description on the cluster, I thought it should automatically adjust to 70(65+5) when hda is all lit up and also 'Highway Auto Speed Change' is enabled. It works when driving speed matches the speed limit on freeways, i.e .if cruise control is set to 70 and the speed limit is 70, and then the speed limit changes to 75, it will automatically change the cruise control speed to 75. I was just hoping that it could set it to the +5 offset that i've set.

The more I drive the car, and the more I read this forum, I realize how much I still have to learn and research about the car.
Coming from 2007 Odyssey (the stone age era) to an SPX it was and still is a steep learning curve:), and unlike many here on the forum who drove cars from the last few years with similar systems, I have no idea how these systems work in other cars to compare, but I am enjoying the discovery process...

From my experience, with this system, it only seems to adjust the speed according to the road speed limit if you are doing the exact speed limit. For me, in Canada, driving on a 100 km/h (62 mph) highway and with the cruise set to 100 the vehicle will change speed automatically. If you set the cruise to the + or - settings you have configure, or if you just want to run faster than the speed limit, then the cruise will notify you that the speed limit has changed and if you want do you want to follow (press + or -). It will then set your new speed to the speed limit with the offset you have configured.

We were on the 401 with the speed set at 100. Came into a construction zone where the limit was down to 80 and the van slowed itself down to the new limit. When we came out of the construction and the limit went back up to 100, the van followed. Once it got to 100 though it asked me if I wanted to increase because my offset is set to +10 km/h. I have been driving along at 110 km/h with cruise on a 100 km/h road and have been asked if you want to change speed to match the speed limit. It has never done it on its own when set above the speed limit.

This system only seems to work on certain highways. For where I live, is Eastern Ontario, it only seems to be on the 400 series highways (major highway).

This makes sense and retrospectively, aligns with my experience. Prior to the explanation it didn't seem to have any sort of rhyme or reason to the logic for which it would auto adjust for my wife sometimes but never for me. ;)

The cruise control is very cool, after you set it 70 mpg, just push the + /- to increase or decrease by 1 increments , if there is car in front of you, it will automatically slow down or pickup speed depending on the distances you set, (I have this function for the ex model) so basically you don’t need to break or gas on highway.
