Help! Vehicle Thinks It Has Idle Stop and Go (ISG) / Engine Shuts Off

Hello, I just purchased a brand new 2023 Kia Carnival LX Seat Package and I was wondering if anyone has this same issue. My vehicle engine will sometimes randomly shut off upon coming to a stop usually under 5mph. The car interior sound will beep very fast and my dashboard will display “Engine Off! Shift to N. then start engine”. I have attached the screenshot.
After about 5 times of this happening, one of which was during a traffic circle going very slow, I had enough and took it into the dealership. It’s been there for over 30 days now and I have an open case number with Kia Customer Service. The dealer service manager informed me that my vehicle “thinks” it has the Idle Stop and Go feature when it in fact does not. They told me that they are waiting for Kia to escalate this and come out with a fix (probably via software update) but have given me no ETA. I’m starting to regret purchasing this MPV as I was extremely excited for this purchase.

It has about 800 miles on the odometer and has been at the dealer at the mercy of Kia Corporate to come out with a solution. Has anyone encountered this issue or something similar? Any idea how long these things typically take to fix? Looking at state lemon laws at this point.

This happened to my 2023 Kia Carnival LXS 2 weeks ago. I was driving 25 mph coming to a stop at a 4 way stop intersection and the engine shut off and showed the exact error message in the picture you posted. I took Carnival into the dealer the next day for a transmission surging issue and a sudden engine shut-off issue. The Kia dealer said "We did not find anything wrong with the car and we do not know why the engine turned off. The transmission is acting normal and within factory specs. If the engine happens to suddenly turn-off again, do NOT turn the engine back on, but leave the car in the on position showing the message. Call the 24/7 Kia Roadside number located on the driver side window and they will tow the car back to the dealership with the car still on so the dealership can run a diagnostic test and fix the problem". The Kia Dealer also said " If the Carnival does not throw a diagnostic code, then they can't fix the car under the Kia factory warranty". Conclusion: "We found nothing wrong with your Kia Carnival sir."

Carnival does not have this feature like other cars, at least not in my 2022 SXP which is bought in late Jun 2022.
Unfortunately it seems @KVPCarnival23 is correct in that you will likely have to coast to a safe spot and have it towed back. Hopefully they have given you a loaner to use in the mean time.
Yes! Exact same thing happened to mine. I took it to the dealer and they said the same thing, nothing wrong or nothing they could find. They did say "the car had an update that we applied", which I'm guessing they mean for the infotainment system. Doubt that has anything to do with it, but it hasn't happened since.

Have you gotten anything back from Kia corporate?
Ok, dealer finally called and they fixed the issue. Apparently Kia issued a recall (SA508) and the dealer applied the update. I’ve been driving for about 50 miles now in stop and go traffic and it has yet to die 👍. I’m hoping this will be a permanent solution.

If you are having this same issue, it might be worth bringing up the recall info and see if they can look it up. Good luck!

I figured I would reply here since I had the same issue with my 23' Prestige. It stopped twice at a red light/stop sign since having it. Took it to KIA today for service and showed them the video of what happened and they didn't know what was wrong. But they said they applied the SA508 ECM Logic update and that should fix it. So we will see.
