There nothing special about home link. It's just a garage door opener button built into the mirror vs just clipping your garage door opener on your sun visor. I would still want the homelink if it's wasn't expensive

The price is too high, but there aren't any aftermarket solutions yet. This car is simply too new. I thought I would gladly pay the $300 to get it but then I realized that's way too much to pay for a garage door opener. The visor clip works JUST FINE for nowI have a Sx Carnival on order but it does not come with the homelink sensor to open the garage. Are there any after market solutions to address this or is it better to order the homelink and have dealer install?
Yeah I wouldn't pay 500 for a garage remote like that. I would just keep the remote in the car with meIt’s about 500 parts and labor.
MyQ is also a cheap easy to install option to add to your garage door opener, that woulds allow you to open/close your garage door from anywhere and if you don't mind their VERY LIBERAL privacy policy (I actually do mind) and share your location with the app - it will open and/close your garage based on your location - may require connecting 3rd party apps like IFTTT and monthly subscription.Yeah I wouldn't pay 500 for a garage remote like that. I would second this suggestion unless you use Google Assistant. The MyQ integration is terrible. 👎🏾MyQ is also a cheap easy to install option to add to your garage door opener, that woulds allow you to open/close your garage door from anywhere and if you don't mind their VERY LIBERAL privacy policy (I actually do mind) and share your location with the app - it will open and/close your garage based on your location - may require connecting 3rd party apps like IFTTT and monthly subscription.
I do not share any information (other than my garage door status) and I don't pay subscription, but I can still schedule my door to close every night in case someone left it open. If you do, you should be able to program as described and not need Homelink...
I'd be curious to see how it looks in a real photo instead of a computer generated image. The frameless style looks a little too contemporary at first, but might actually fit the car's upscale interior better than the stock one. And at $100, it's a much better value than the Kia homelink, though you don't get the auto-dimming - which I'd argue isn't really needed since the vehicle is so high up, I don't have any issues with glare from the cars behind me (unless they have their high beams on).
