We are going on a road trip next week and would like to stream movies from our iphone or macbook to the two screens in the second row. I wonder what the best way to do this would be? We've never been able to use those screens much besides the kids watching the videos that come with it. We don't have a hotspot in the van.

If you do some searching, you’ll find more about this, but the short answer is: you can’t. Most of the apps on iPhone or iPad block you from mirroring them to the screens and, even if you got it to work, mirroring to both rear screens apparently doesn’t work well. I’m about ready to just remove those screens and hang an iPad.

You’ll probably have better luck using the built-in apps and the hotspot on your phone.

It has been a pain trying to figure this mess out. Do I connect both screens to the hotspot on my iphone? Will that kill my data streaming the movie? Someone said it's best to store the content on a jump drive and plug it into the usb port on the screens.

Only one of them needs to be connected to the hotspot, and then the content can be mirrored. Yes, a jump drive apparently works but it’s pretty rare to have movie files available to download like that.
