As the others have mentioned. Placing an order with the factory isn't likely going to result in a vehicle being delivered to you. People who placed order back in March still haven't received an order confirmation. The chip shortage has given all production priority to maintaining dealer inventory. The factory is unlikely to fill your order until the supply builds back up at dealerships first. I'm not talking weeks or even months either. You won't see a car in 2021 and maybe not even 2022 the way things are going.

If you really want this car, you'll have to accept it with just the features it comes with as standard and be prepared to hunt for dealers in a 500 mile radius to find one who has the color/trim you want AND isn't charging $5k above MSRP. Don't trust the dealer websites as they will all be using outdated information. You have to call each dealer almost daily to know exactly what vehicle they have on the lot. Plus, many are already sold before they arrive, so you may need to put down a deposit on incoming inventory to reserve yours. This is not the same as factory ordering and is far more likely to get you a car within a month.

Sorry for all the bad news, but that's the reality of the market now. Demand far exceeds supply.

I find these statements about factory orders not coming to fruition to be based on limited knowledge from a small population. There are less than 500 members on this forum, and I'm sure many are not fact checking these statements that nobody has received a Carnival that they ordered from the factory through a dealership. There are almost 4k members in this Facebook group and there are many people who received a Carnival that they had to order through the dealership. I am in Utah, and I have called 4 dealerships in the area to ask if they have any SX in stock or coming in soon, and they have all told me that the only SX trims that come in are special ordered and claimed already, so I would have to order one. So I did, back in June. And I got an update last week that I am 10th in line to receive one, and that allocations are picking up and I could have an ETA on mine next month. So to the OP, don't lose hope based on the replies here.

Thank you for this and you are absolutely right that our sample size is relatively small and based on our own experiences and feedback from others within this forum. Some people here have placed and received orders through dealers based on allocated inventory from the manufacturer (i.e. not a factory order). When you receive your factory order, it will be the first that we are aware of.

Thank you again for sharing and please keep us updating on how your order is going. It will provide encouragement to others that have waited months for their factory order without any timeframe for delivery.

For sure. The "factory orders" received may just be dealer inventory that matches the Trim/Color ordered but could possibly have different options. I am not 100% certain. Fortunately, most of the "options" available are all easy to add on after market. But basically just wanted to make sure the OP wasn't disheartened thinking that he will never receive a Carnival because he "ordered" one and that his only option was to find one already on the lot somewhere. Because that seems more hopeless than "ordering" one, especially if all the dealer allocated inventory is going to the people who have "ordered".

Do you mind sharing what dealer you ordered from? Did they add any other fees or warranties or packages to the price? Do you have any sort of documentation that forces them to sell you the car at MSRP?

I have been calling tend of dealers and they all played the exact same tricks others have mentioned about here on the forum.

I won't hold my breath if its not but I placed an order for our second carnival on 8/3/21 (had a sienna on order and when it arrived despite contract dealer played shenanigans on price) and it should be arriving this week as of a call from our salesman a few minutes ago. We had a vin assigned within a week. We ordered a fairly basic deep chroma blue lxs with only mud flaps and floormats. Thought about the hitch/roof rack but I felt it would delay the order. We were told 10-14 days for vin/acceptance from kia and then possibly another 4-6 weeks after. We previously bought a lxs flare red from the dealer about 2 months ago.

I spoke with 4 Kia dealerships in various parts of Texas. The general agreement was that if we ordered from the factory they had no clue as to when or if we would get it. This was in late July. Ended up driving 4 hours to buy one.
Interesting. It must be up to the individual dealers how they want the selling process to look to the customer. Here, all the dealers are saying you can only get an SX if you place an order. That must be their way of just building a waiting list for vehicles allocated to them by Kia, and that there isn't a true "order" process. Who knows.

I placed an order for a SX in July and I have a VIN now, with expected delivery end of this month. While I haven't yet picked it up and the entire transaction is yet to close smoothly, just wanted to note that factory orders do seem to be getting delivered.

Oddly enough, was walking my son to school this morning and saw my first SX in the wild. Had Texas temp plates with an October expiration so it must have been recently delivered.

That's great to hear. I assume by having an assigned VIN, this was a factory order? Did you customize it at all?
