Kia no longer taking SX & SX-P trim orders

Hello all, can others confirm their dealerships in the US for the past week are no longer taking SX and SX-P trims due to parts shortages? I tried to order over the weekend but they were not taking orders for those trim levels due to shortages and no timetable when it would open up.

Thanks!

Yes, I've spoken to multiple dealerships and all said that they cannot order SX-P trim at this time. In fact LXS is the only trim they could order.

I hope this means an announcement on the 2023 Kia Carnival is around the corner. Way past time, we should be hearing of the 2023MY.

I ordered a SXP on 5/2/22. Some dealerships said they weren’t taking orders a handful I called would take them, I ordered from a smaller Kia dealership in Georgia.

Even back in Feb when I ordered SXP, the dealers in Dallas areas (more than 10), a lot of them didn’t take any more. But I did find one in Fort Worth. Just yesterday, dealer call me that my order was switched to 2023 model….Don’t expect it before the end of the year. Finger crossed.

Can you let me know who the dealer is?

Ty! I tried with both of their dealerships, Alliance and Hurst few weeks ago and they are not taking orders at this time.
Interesting, maybe even they stopped taking. 😂
Im not so hopeful I can even get by Oct. let’s see.

Yeah, looks like no one is taking orders anymore.

Just curious, do you have a plan B?

LOL, no plan B. Reaching out to other dealerships to see if they have one available/incoming that is not spoken for. Couple of dealerships do have one each but with hefty markups, from 6k to 15k. So, it is a waiting game for me as I am not totally desperate at the moment. I plan to order one when they start taking orders again and wait (next summer maybe)

That seems to be the name of the game. Either wait 9-12 months or look for incoming/unspoken for orders hopefully at MSRP. I can also wait til 2023 but I'd like to put in my order as soon as KIA starts taking SX/SX-P orders again.

They are going to take orders soon it seems. Couple of dealers confirmed that and it is going to be 2023. Also, Kia is going to remove some features, like 2nd row screens, and put them in an optional package. Those components seems to be scarce and they want build more without waiting for them. My guess is that orders with out those optional packages might be built sooner and the rest might still be 9 to 10 months away.

I didn't specifically ask, but my local Kia dealer said they only have LX & LXS slated to come in the next 30 days. That seems to fit the scenario. Next time I'm there, I'll ask.

I hope that is true along with possible trim changes to make Prestige features available as an option for the lower models. I can do without the captain's chair but would like the sunroof and digital cockpit from the SX-P.

Would've gladly optioned off the RES and put that towards one of the things you mentioned. IMO they should've already had some of those Prestige features (maybe one sunroof, LED taillights, maybe digital display) in regular SX because the Prestige chairs are not as young family friendly.

Yes with wait times I figured it would be time to start talking about 2023 model year.

I wonder if we will see any other features deleted due to part shortages. I personally could go without the rear entertainment screens however when my kids ride in my grand Caravan they love the drop down dvd/entertainment screen.

I also think it would be a good idea to offer a top of line 8 seater or even a 7 seater (captains chairs with dual arm rests) without the VIP seats.

Anywho hopefully for those of us who have orders placed we will get them kinda soon🤞

Yeah, I too wish that they combine SX and SX Prestige in one Trim and move some of these options like entertainment, vip seats etc to packages that can be added on top of the SX Trim. That way we can get best options without having to get everything.
