I'll admit, I always thought the sliding middle seat in the 2nd row was kind of a gimmick. I didn't understand who would really want to push it so far back while the outboard seats stayed put. But then, I took my wife, 2 toddlers, and Grandma on a 4 hour road trip this weekend and I finally realized why you need such a flexible middle seat.
I drove, Grandma rode shotgun, and my wife sat in between the two toddlers, tending to their every need for drinks, snacks, and multiple rounds of baby shark. When the kids finally fell asleep, mommy found herself pretty exhausted too and was able to slide her seat back to stretch her legs out and fully recline the back into a pretty comfortable resting position. No other middle seat in any other car we've owned would have given her that level of comfort and flexibility.
So now, I finally get it and wanted to share our experience in case you were a doubter like I was.
