It's been really cold where I live right now currently negative 19° start my car let it warm up for a little bit and I go to drive in the check engine light turns on. Get about a half a mile down my road and I have no acceleration all power pedal to the floor and nothing. So I pulled over turn it off and started it up again check engine light is still on but I was able to get to work. Anybody have any issues with this? I did also have the recall with my sliding doors opening while driving 55 miles an hour wondering if I got a dud of a vehicle. I miss my Nissan quest already.

This is insane. I had the EXACT same problem this morning. It seems a lot of issues are starting to pop up with the extreme cold. I ended up driving it about 20 miles to make sure it was ok for my wife to drive to work without any issues. I'm interested to see if the light goes away once it gets warmer.

Same! I think the next day I have off it's going back in the shop again. Unfortunately it's going to snow the next few days 12+ and continued bitter cold! I'm in northern NY by the Canadian border

We just had ours in last week for service and all was good, not that they would have known this would be an issue but its irritating. Did you have a previous issue? We're west of Erie PA.

The only other problem I had was I had the sliding door not latching or closing and flying open while driving. My VIN was not part of the recall but I brought it into them and of course it did work when they were there. But then it happened several more times while I was driving with my kids in the van and I had my husband take it straight to them and sure as s*** the door was wide open. So they had to replace it even though my vent wasn't part of the recall. Honestly I was really excited about the carnival but it's starting to leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Hopefully it's just a few bugs to tweak out in the beginning. I would have been less than impressed if the door decided to open on its own.

I had the same issue today and was towed to dealer. If you have the Kia Access app, it should provide the diagnostic code if the engine light is on. There is also another forum “P2118 Engine Code” that other owners have shared. Sounds like a cold weather issue all around. I will post my updates on the P2118 Engine Code forum since that is the code I have. Would be curious if all the no acceleration issues when the weather is cold is the same problem.

Follow up to dealer visit. When speaking with dealer service, they mentioned that they did an update so the van doesn’t go into limp mode (not mentioned on receipt) if the code resurfaces. Appears Kia is working on software update to fix this issue. Hopefully it comes soon.

I have the same issue except for my dealership has no idea what the issue is so instead of me losing another day from work I canceled my appointment and told them to call me when they have a solution to the problem. However when I auto started my car this morning and walked out at 3:30 positive 24 degrees Fahrenheit today my car sounded like it was going to die so I turned it off and restarted it manually same noise continued made it to work thankfully. But without my dealership knowing what the heck to do even with the information that I provided them from this forum I don't know what to do.

Have your dealership call Kia techline and reference CEL code p2118. Ask them to inquire when a new firmware might be out to address the code.
