I'm a new member and own a SX Prestige. On a recent trip, we experienced at least a couple of instances where the navigation map reverted to the home screen without warning. Has anyone experienced similar behavior while using the on-board nav with UVO? The route was not cancelled, but the map screen just changed on its own. Also, does anyone know if Kia will provide regular firmware updates to this system which is quite complex and how this would be accomplished?

We just made a 1500 mile trip to Florida and back. No issues with Nav reverting to home screen. The screen does switch views on its own, when you stop and then move on, zooming out or in on the road. I believe you will need to purchase updates after a year, but Google Maps from your phone is free. After this Florida trip, I am determined to learn how to use Android Auto and Google.

This may not be the problem you had, but ours would do that as well. It was so frustrating and then I figured out why. I would be changing the radio channel with the turn knobs and my finger would graze the setup touch button and turn the navigations screen off and settings would pop up. Not sure if that is your problem but it happened to me several times before I figured it out.

Are you still experiencing this bug?

Are you plugging in an iPhone while using build-in navigation? I had that when my iPhone is plugged in and the screen is cyclin between the build-in map and Home Screen. I had to switch the iPhone to power only plug and the screen switching stopped then.

I experienced this behavior when in Waze I go in and out of mobile phone coverage. Sometimes have to unplug and plug back in to get everything working again. Hugely annoying.

You may be able to reproduce it by disabling cellular service on your phone.

Map updates are separate from firmware updates. Kia will likely provide annual map updates for $200 or more per update, but firmware updates are only released whenever Kia feels like it. Both can be accessed through the owner's portal online and download it to a USB drive then connected to the car for updating.

Map updates are free for 10 years for Canadian buyers, I can't believe its different for US as there is no signup required to download the updates.

Through Kia Navi, all eligible owners of Kia models* qualify for two navigation updates annually, for up to 10 years after purchase of their vehicle.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, and I did confirm this with my dealer (not that this means anything). And they are supposed to release updates 2 times per year.

As soon as you lose Cell signal or it goes to 1 bar (hard to tell while driving) it seems to crash the Android Auto connection (and I assume CarPlay too) and does the same thing, reverts back to the home screen. I mentioned on another post that we seemed to be getting less signal while the phone is in the wireless charging cubby and while I haven't proven it yet, I drove the same path 2 times in 2 days that pass through low signal areas and when the phone is in the cubby it would keep reverting back to the home screen (upwards of 30 times) but when I put the phone in the slot in the cup holder that completely stopped (0 times).

That's a great deal! It's been a while since I checked Kia US official policy on this, so maybe we get some perks I'm not aware of?
