Question from a future CARNIVAL owner

Hello everyone, thank you for this wonderful forum and all its glorious information.

I was wondering whether those with knowledge can chime in. I'm torn between an EX and an SX. I prefer the look of the SX grill and the black wheels, but that doesn't seem to be enough to justify the price hike. Other than the surrounding camera, are there any other features that I am potentially missing out on with the EX vs the SX?

Thanks!

I quickly read kbb and motortrend articles they both seem to like the EX as a value decision.

I took this from the motortrend article

2022 Kia Carnival SX Trim Pros And Cons
Stepping up to the Carnival SX trim adds even more premium touches to what's offered with the EX variant. Kia paints the 19-inch alloy wheels black and decks out the Carnival's exterior in satin and matte silver trim. SX models also receive roof rails,
power folding outside mirrors, and LED foglights.
A dual screen rear seat entertainment system is now standard. On every model below the SX trim, this feature is a $1,500 option. Critically, this model adds a 360-degree camera system, a very helpful feature when you're parking a big minivan. Kia also adds two USB charging outlets to the second row. Finally, the Carnival SX gains two 115V power inverters. Its price tag, almost $42,500, is a significant step up from the EX model, but for many, this will be the minivan to buy.

Maybe by the time you receive your carnival it will be a 2023 model and the trims could be different :p

We need Canadian trims.
I’ve seen it a few times where Americans wished they had the Canadian ex plus trim. Would that be your preference as well?

I wish Kia had all the features of the CDN SX or USA SXP in the 8 seater option or even removable captain chairs.

My ultimate wish would be to get the darn plug-in carnival out already. I’m hoping if I say it enough, it will come out.

I would have been dead set on the SX-P if it offered 8 seats.

The rear power reclining seats are worth every penny. Slept like a baby... snoring and all.

I love the idea of the SX-P, but those seats would reduce the whole reason for owning a minivan: utility
I suppose if you only haul small stuff it'll be fine, but my Sedona doubles as a Lowes hauler. It's my work truck when it's not hauling kids.

Isn’t the infotainment screen 12.3” on the sx?

Yes, but I think it's 12.1 inches?
I know this is an older thread, but we got a prestige with 8 seats. You can order it from factory, or get lucky and find a unicorn like we did at a dealer.

Yes, that’s a 2023 option. Wasn’t for 2022.

My wife and I both own 2018 Kia Sportage's. Hers is the SX and mine is the EX. We both have heated AND ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, items we would not want to be without in a future vehicle. For the Carnival the only trim that offers the ventilated seats and heated steering wheel is the SX trim. So for us we must upgrade to the SX trim level to get what Kia offered in lower trim levels back in 2018 on their Sportage. I was very disappointed to see Kia holding out on something as basic as a heated steering wheel on all but the premium trim levels. I think they're getting greedy.
