Hi all,
Has anyone with young kids installed rear-facing car seats in the second row chairs of the SX/Prestige trim levels? And, if so, is there sufficient space for the car seats without them touching/bumping into the entertainment screens on the back of the first row seats? We haven’t purchased our Carnival yet and I’d like to get the SX trim
but want to make sure there’s enough space for the car seats. If you have any pictures you could share, that would be greatly appreciated too!

Thanks!

This was the very first problem we encountered when installing the car seats. We knew the screen would take up some space, but we didn't realize how close it was going to be until the seats were installed. We have a rear facing infant carrier installed in a base and a rear facing toddler seat. Both technically fit without touching the screens, but the front seats had to be moved forward a bit more than I would prefer (barely enough room for a 5' 4" tall person to be comfortable). This also meant neither front seat could be reclined at all without the screens bumping into the car seats and it also meant access to the 3rd row would be nearly impossible since we couldn't slide the 2nd row forward without hitting the screens.

Ultimately, the best solution was to forward face the toddler (she's technically old enough but we wanted her rear facing as it is the safest), and removing the screen in front of the infant. So now, the toddler seat can slide forward to allow 3rd row access and the front passenger can finally sit normally and recline a couple inches without worrying about the now removed screen getting damaged.

You were right to be concerned about the screens. If you don't plan on using them, I'd recommend removing them before you install the car seats. Search this forum for instructions. You can always put them back once the kids get older.

We have a rear facing child seat and have had no problems with front seat room in our SXP. I'm 6'2" and can have the seat reclined and almost all the way in the rearward position. It's very comfortable on long drives. We keep the second row seats as close to the door as allowed but placed rearward as possible (which is not as far back as the seat will go in the center most position). There is plenty of room in the rear seats for the other kiddos with this configuration.

We have an SX with one rear facing car seat. My wife and I are both comfortable sitting in front of it, but we're certainly conscience of the fact it is there. I definitely think the better design is to have one TV from the ceiling.

We have an SX and I’m 6’ 4” and I could not fit comfortably with the rear facing seat behind me I ended up removing the screen to allow some room and now can move back enough.
