Remote start help!! Kia carnival LXS

Just Purchased a Kia carnival LXS, that comes with a factory remote start that is built into the key fob. I have not been able to get it to work once and I’ve tried every single combination including locking and holding for 2 to 4 to 6 seconds. The key fob unlocks and locks the car however when it locks it there is no horn, and I think that is the issue. Is anyone else having problems with this? I read on another model years ago that it won’t start if they thinks the hood is open and it also won’t honk when you lock it if it thinks the hood is open; I can absolutely confirm that the hood is not open I have closed and shut it everything appears to be functioning normally. Very frustrating for a brand new vehicle appreciate any help or insight.

So, I'm going off of memory, but I don't think there is an audible beep (horn doesn't honk ever) when locking the car. It does beep when you unlock. But none of that matters for remote start. As you mentioned before, simply press the lock button, then hold the start button for 2-4 seconds. If that doesn't work, then take it to the dealer.

Does it start when you use the app?
To use the remote to start your Carnival:

1 Press Lock button on the Remote twice
2.Press and HOLD remote start button until the engine starts. (A few seconds.)

DONE.

I think you missed the entire paragraph where I said I was already doing that. I took it into Kia, the driver side door latch is not functioning properly which is stopping the lock from locking...which is preventing the remote start from engaging.

I didn't miss the paragraph, it didn't appear to me that in what you wrote you were pressing lock twice.

But you don't need to press the lock button twice. Once is enough.

So when I read this I had to research it and you are correct! I currently am a Sales Consultant at a KIA Dealership (just started recently) and when I was being trained by other co-workers they told me to hit the Lock button twice! Shame on me for not fact checking them!

Glad to have a dealer in the forums. At the risk of hijacking this thread, do you have any info you can share about the status of customer placed factory orders through Kia? Some dealers are still telling buyers that Kia is taking custom factory orders, but others say Kia stopped taking orders months ago due to lack of supply.

Well, I have only been here a very short amount of time. I have yet to place an order, but co-workers have. We are telling folks that we don't know when it will come in, but we guestimate 6 - 9 months.

When one comes in that was allocated to us, we call our order customers and give them the option to switch to the one that came in. So far, this is what I have seen everyone do. I personally have not seen an ordered vehicle come in as of yet, but I am told by a co-worker one of his is due in later this month.

The other thing I should add.. is this is orders in general. Mainly I have seen orders for Tellurides. I have had a few tell me they wanted to order a Carnival, but then never come back to do it.
