This seems impossible. Trying the navigation updater software I login and it says no vehicles registered even though my car is on the kia website. I click signup later and go to my car. I selection the thumb drive of a formatted exFAT system as it exactly tells me to do so. Click next and updates are unavailable. So I guess their updater just doesn't work. Ok ill do it manually. I go to the website , select gen2v and select the only carnival download they have. Website tells me to put the zip file onto a FAT32 formatted thumb drive instead so I do. Go to my car and it says no update files. Tried putting the zip file back onto an exFAT formatted drive and still no update files. What else am I supposed to do to get this to work?

The navigation update was available 4/28, but if you didn’t get it by 5/2, you’ll find it’s temporarily unavailable due to a server issue. You’ll have to check back on or after 5/12.

Sorry you wasted time downloading and trying the Display Audio update… that’s the one for non-navigation systems. If you have navigation, that isn’t for you.

Oh great. So does anyone have the update files from downloading it from the software before they pulled it?

I do, but I gotta be honest. It's not worth uploading and hosting 30+ GB of data when the update will likely be available in 3 more days.

I will say this though, the wide screen update to AA wasn't nearly as life changing as I thought it would be. If anything, it's actually less functional than the split screen mode Kia programmed because with AA widescreen enabled, I can no longer have GMaps running and see Radio/SAT info at the same time. I'm thinking about disabling it and going back to Kia's split-screen feature.

I completely agree!! I updated it and I like it less. I use Waze and that 1/3 of a screen is useless because I don't listen to on-device music. On a happy note, we can no longer blame Kia for not letting us go full screen, its 100% directed at Google now and their terrible design of Android Auto.

So we just brought home out Carnival SXP… trying to set up Wi-Fi for summer road trips. Called Kia connect and was told we needed the system update. Ok.
Well after messing with it for an hour I finally called back. As of May 31, they still have no ETA for when the update will be available for download and they could give me no further info.
Which is frustrating because we have over 30 hours of road trip planned this summer!

Is there any way I can find a copy of the Nov 2021 release? I've been checking for weeks to download the most recent software using the updater, but still no luck. We are leaving in a few weeks for a trip and I really would like to update the software before then, since we won't have access to a computer during our trip. We just bought a used 2022 SX and it appears the version currently installed is quite outdated:

Map Version: NAM.13.47.50.610.301
SW Version: KA4.USA.S5W_M.V001.001.210105

It seems the November update will at least get me to:

Map Version: NAM.14.47.47.453.306
SW Version: KA4.USA.S5W_M.V007.001.220314

The update is finally available again. I am not sure if people who updated several weeks ago need to update again because I think they patched some bugs. HOWEVER, how long does it take to install this update? I have been sitting in my van for over an hour and it is still not finished!!! This is ridiculous. How long did it take everyone else to install the update?

It takes a very long time. Somewhere between 1-2 hours in the car. No need to keep the engine running that long though, just turn on accessory mode. I may try downloading again to see if it will install for me to fix any bugs from April.

EDIT:
After checking the website, I can confirm the software version has changed since April 22, so I will try to download and update to see if the system takes it.

Edit 2:
Update worked and everything appears to be functioning normally.

I have the update on a thumbdrive and trying to figure out the best time/way to upload/install it into my Carni. Kia recommends to keep the engine running, but 1-2 hours is ridiculous and with the gas prices I'm literally burning money. I'm guessing you'd (@UN-Limited) would still recommend not turning on the engine and uploading/installing it in accessory mode? Any other recommendations to ensure my battery won't die (maybe it's not that taxing on the battery, but I've been in the driveway playing with settings before and Carni will warn my the battery is being drained within like 2 minutes of just sitting in accessories mode.). Thanks in advance.

I did it in accessory mode. Just press the start button once so only the radio turns on. Keep your headlights off and dome lights off. No issues for me.

Sweet - all worked for me. Took a little less than 1.75 hours. Some other observations I noticed that may be helpful to others:
  • The app wouldn't download the update directly to my thumb drive, so I just downloaded the files to my computer.
  • It then asked me if I wanted to move it to my thumb drive, which I said yes, but that didn't work either. So I just closed out the app and moved the files drag-and-drop style
  • I moved the entire folder over, which the Carnival didn't recognize, so I went back through and took all the files out of the folder and put all files into the root
  • Keeping the car in Accessory Mode worked great. About an hour into the update, my screen looked blank/off, so hit the start button again and it lit up saying the install was still in progress and about 15-20% updated. I suspect it would've kept on updating even if I didn't hit the start button again
  • When it's complete, the screen indicates such and posts a QR code to direct you to the webpage regarding the update.

Sooo….. I don’t have a map anymore😕. Everything else updated. I now have the data icon so I can enable wifi which was the reason for wanting this update but now maps and nav menu don’t open.

How many files were in the folder after the download? I had 141. Maybe something went awry?

The update program downloads each of the large files as much smaller (10mb) individual chunks that can easily redownloaded in a failure, these chunks are then merged together at the end of the process to create each tar file. You can use the listing above or open the 2022_Carnival_USA.ver and see the files and their sizes to see what file was either missing or too small. I'm surprised it went through with the update if there was something missing.

It's interesting that we can remove files and setup the system without a functioning GPS by just removing the update files... This is a huge negative on Kia's part as they should be checking the entire file list prior to updating. I wonder if this "error" could be used to help exploit their system / add custom android installs or modified firmware.
