The update is finally available again. I am not sure if people who updated several weeks ago need to update again because I think they patched some bugs. HOWEVER, how long does it take to install this update? I have been sitting in my van for over an hour and it is still not finished!!! This is ridiculous. How long did it take everyone else to install the update?
2.5 hours for me. I made sure my gas tank was full

Hello Forum
I was at the Kia dealership to update my navigation system and they quoted me $150.00 (for an update damn!)

So, I decided to spend my week off to finish this myself. I have downloaded all of the files to my USB and want your guidance on uploading them to my navigation screen. Can someone provide with step by step process on how to do this?

Many thanks

cheers!

Did the last update change the Radio design layout? I think the dealership made the updates and now i don't see that fancy radio screen that looked like https://cdn.jdpower.com/ChromeImageGallery/Expanded/White/640/2022KIV02_640/2022KIV020106_640_18.jpg
is there a way to get that design back?
Not that I know of. Maybe you can install an old version, but it will most likely fail. I too miss the nicer looking retro tube UI. The current version looks dated and kinda messy with the various radio station artworks clashing with each other and the UI.

Just got my SXP and it says OTA Update Available but when I click Update it says insert USB drive? Do I need to insert a USB drive for it to download OTA to? I couldn't really find any info on kia owners around this?

The best I can figure out is if you’re set up for OTA updates, it will download those at its own leisure (these are very large updates being downloaded over the cell network). But they won’t necessarily be timely… I’ve seen people with Sportages and EV6es with OTA update capability just getting the April 2022 update within the last month. So really, OTA updates are primarily for people who otherwise wouldn’t have even realized an update existed.

So if you want the update on demand or quicker than it would be offered to you OTA, you’d have to download it yourself via the navigation updater program and install it in your car with a USB stick.

Do note that if you have a 2023, even though it shows a “new” update on the update site, it’s actually old. So it doesn’t have the added features that came with the April 2022 navigation system update. Presumably you will get on track starting with the next update (likely in November).

Did the update tonight and it took about 90 minutes. A couple tips that I didn't see in this thread or the Kia instructions:
  • Formatting the USB drive as ExFAT on a Mac works just fine (not sure about the regular FAT (DOS) format that Mac's Disk Utility also offers
  • When you download the files, you'll get an "NaU" folder with a "2022_Carnival_USA" folder within. In that folder are all the files the car will need to update. You need to put all those files into the main directory of the USB drive, rather than in the two folders.
  • An external hard drive (vs. a USB stick) won't work for some reason.
Bummer they got rid of that cool vintage light bulb radio interface, not that I really use it much (I'm using CarPlay 90% of the time).

So my USB drive is only 32gb. When I tried to transfer the files from my PC, it says I need a bigger USB stick. Well I saw that you can download it on an SD card. I have many that are 128gb. So if I download it to that, where can I stick into the Carnival? It doesn' thave an SD slot. I'm confused. USB or SD Card? If USB only, then I simply need to buy a bigger USB Drive.

Yes, USB - a big enough drive should cost you like 10 bucks.

Did the download and install. Once restarted, it looks the same. Google maps is not taking up the whole screen. Tried messing with different settings but nothing. View attachment 1135
If you want your Android Auto to utilize the entire screen, you need to go to setup > device connections > phone projection > Android Auto. Uncheck “use split screen.”

This worked for me. Also in your Android Auto Phone App, In Developer Settings if you have enabled this in the past. Change the Video Resolution to "Allow Car and phone to Negotiate"
