Step 1. Turn off caps lock.

As long as you have the key fob in the car with you, the car should be able to shift and drive as normal without any additional inputs.

YES , MY SISTER BOUGHT ONE IN AUTOLAND DEALER IN MAYAGUEZ P.R. IT WAS WHAT SHE WAS LOOKING TO BUY. A 2022 KIA CARNIVAL LX 3.5 LTRS , ( PEARL BLACK ) REALLY NICE. THE PURCHASE PRICE WAS UNDER $ 42, 000. DOLLARS. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE, AND IT'S A SMOOTH RIDE.

As stated before. There is nothing special that you need to do to keep the car running. Simply shift the car into gear and drive away, but you must have the key fob with you inside the car before doing so.

The only thing I can think is if there is something territory specific to the PR models. I would assume no but you never know. As already stated, at least in the mainland US, you can just put it in gear and drive off assuming you have the FOB with you. What happens when you try this?

Thanks for your reply , but it's not going to solve the problem. I'm going to explain. I have a smart remote fob. I'm going to start my van from outside the van. I press the door lock button once, then press the remote start button within 5 seconds, the smart remote starter is on. I have to unlock the driver side door to enter vehicle. I'm in the vehicle to resume the remote start , ok here is the problem, in order for me to drive the vehicle, I have to step on brake pedal , or press Start /Stop button , or do both . Remember I need to step on brake pedal in order to shift lever to drive. Now the problem is the vehicle will shut off as soon as you apply the brake pedal or push Start / stop button. I always have the smart key fob close by. There must be a procedure to solve this issue. Anyone has the proper procedure to this issue. THANKS.

Thanks for your reply , but it's not going to solve the problem. I'm going to explain. I have a smart remote fob. I'm going to start my van from outside the van. Your procedure is correct. You should be able to press on the brake pedal and shift into gear without doing anything else. If the car shuts off, then that is not how it works on the main land. Have you tried checking your manual to see if your procedure is different?

I checked the owners manual, but there's no procedure for my issue. I have a 2017 Nissan maxima sv, and it works differently, my remote fob has proximity , ok I start my car using the remote start, I enter the vehicle, Step on the brake pedal and push the start/ stop button and vehicle stays on.

Check with your dealer or Kia corporate. You could also try a different carnival to see if it works differently. If it does it’s a defect. If it doesn’t then it’s likely a difference in local law compared to mainland US.

The vehicle shuts down , as soon as you apply the brake , or push start button. There is a procedure to Resume the remote start , but I Need more help from someone that solved this issue.

I solved my issue today. In regards to my vehicle shutting down. When you enter vehicle , during smart remote start, ( DO NOT PRESS START/ STOP BUTTON) . As soon as you want to drive or Resume with the remote start active .Here is what you do. APPLY BRAKE PEDAL , PUT SHIFT IN GEAR , RELEASE EMERGENCY BRAKE , MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR SEAT BELT BUCKLED. THIS SOLVED MY ISSUE TODAY. 08/02/2021. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLYS.

I SOLVED MY ISSUE , IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN , WHEN ON REMOTE START MODE, WHEN YOU ENTER VEHICLE APPLY BRAKE PEDAL , AND SHIFT TO GEAR , FOWARD , OR REVERSE, TO DRIVE . ( DONT PUSH START/ STOP BUTTON AT ALL. ) WHEN YOU FINISH DRIVING APPLY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND JUST (PUSH START/ STOP BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN ENGINE . WHEN APPLYING EMERGENCY BRAKE YOU NEED TO APPLY BRAKE PEDAL. I HOPE THAT THIS INFORMATION TODAY WILL HELP THOSE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THANK YOU. 08/02/2021

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY, I'M SURE THAT THE SMART REMOTE START IS WORKING PROPERLY. MY ISSUE WAS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSHING THE START/ STOP BUTTON CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN. IT'S WORKING PROPERLY NOW.. ONCE VEHICLE IS IN REMOTE START CYCLE , YOU CAN'T PUSH THE START / STOP BUTTON OTHERWISE THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN. THE RIGHT PROCEDURE IS , PUT BRAKE PEDAL DOWN , SHIFT IN GEAR , AND RELEASE EMERGENCY BRAKE, THEN THIS WILL RESUME THE REMOTE START CYCLE. THIS ISSUE WAS SOLVED BY MIKEY TODAY, I HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP ANYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE. 08/02/2021.
