There sliding door safety sensors don’t work. My 2 year old got his fingers crushed. I googled it and it looks like a lot of other people had the same issue. Is Kia going to recall this? This is a major safety issue. It should detect an obstruction and reverse.
Sorry your kid got hurt, but there’s nothing to recall. Read about how the doors function, understand how their resistance detectors work (won’t recognize a small finger, or any finger even, at the point of closing), then use them appropriately and make sure everyone treats large pieces of motorized moving metal with respect and responsibility.
From what I’ve seen the last few years, there is a shocking lack of personal responsibility or accountability for actions. Don’t close doors if someone is in the way. Make sure little ones or frail elderly understand to stay out of the way until the door is fully open or fully closed. If you can’t trust anyone in your family to understand this, then turn off the power doors and use them the good old fashioned way.
