Most of the time I will drive my new Carnival with the rear seats down and the middle seats stored in my house. I would like a straightforward completely waterproofed mat to cover the entire floor space behind the front seats. I will be using the Kia as a camper and the back floor will be at constant risk of getting wet and having mud tracked in. Any suggestions appreciated. I don't want any seams in the flooring to leak onto the carpeting underneath.

I ordered a 4 foot by 8 foot rubber mat designed for pickup truck long bed. This will cover almost the entire floor space behind front seats, which will be going into storage shortly.
I really do wish Kia would offer a 100% waterproof floor in this position. The old Honda Element had this as a standard feature. Carpeting in this area will just become a nuisance for anyone using the Carnival for most outdoor activities.

I've been looking for the exact same thing.

Exactmats told me they can customize the cut on the mat. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

How has your runner mat been working out? I thought about that idea but heard that those things are very heavy.

Do you have any photos of your camper build so far?

My new rubber mat has been frozen stiff since I put it into the Kia, still rolled up. Very heavy. Waiting to find the time and temperature to unroll it. I'm glad I bought the smaller vinyl mats in front of the driver and front passenger seats, both of which are now filthy with whatever I've tracked in during the recent snow storms. No photos worth mentioning at the moment. I am wishing Kia had simply dispensed with the floor carpeting & offered an all vinyl floor option, which is far more appropriate in a camper van.

That would have been awesome. I almost pulled out the carpet and redid the floors, but I just couldn't handle the idea of such a big modification on a brand new vehicle

I found a series of videos on YouTube re: modifying a Toyota Sienna for full time camping. Guy name "Eric" did them all. He has a detailed video on putting a vinyl floor in the Sienna over a plywood base to create a smooth, supportive, comfortable and extremely easy to clean floor for minivan camping. The vinyl material is snap together planking usually installed in houses. He says that spills on the planking do not get below the planking. Subfloor is standard plywood, looks about 1/2" thick, but he didn't say just how thick the plywood was. He dealt with the floor projections remaining on the van floor after the rear seats were removed, by cutting out odd sections of the subfloor to fit around them. The plastic planking is totally flat over the irregular subfloor. He does lose some of the floor to ceiling height by doing this. I don't expect my "camper" to feel just like home, so I probably won't go this way.
