Mine are the same as yours but in reverse, we use the passenger view almost every car ride with toddlers so put that as our fav on the steering wheel.
I have mine set up this way too. However, using the KIA button in AA requires a couple more taps than I would like if I'm not already on the AA home screen. I would love a quick way to go to the first page of the Kia home screen where there is just a clean layout of very nice clock/music/navigation widgets. We have the steering wheel set to the passenger view and the radio/dash set to return to the home screen. But we didn't know about the Kia button in the Apple Carplay screen that will take you back to the home screen, so we may change what that button does to quiet mode.
Originally I had it set to take you to the home screen and the rear view monitoring but recently I changed it to Car Play and the rear view monitor.I wish you could use the one on the Steering wheel for Phone Projection / Android Auto or Car Play so I have it at Passenger View and the one on the dash to bring up AA. When I remember, I use the long press voice button on the steering wheel to bring up AA now (Like I'm going to make a call) , and just say "Cancel", its just annoying. Trying to find the dash one while driving, I typically end up pressing something else.
You can also rearrange the location of the home screen icons so that you can put your phone projection icon in a spot that's more convenient to reach.I wish you could use the one on the Steering wheel for Phone Projection / Android Auto or Car Play so I have it at Passenger View and the one on the dash to bring up AA. You can also hit the mode button on your steering wheel. It cycles through your audio sources (am/fm/sat/phone) and you can even turn off the sources you never use so you can jump straight to phone if you want.I did move them around but it still feels awkward to do that while driving. To be honest, it would resolved with a simple setting that says "Show phone projection on connect" and then when I connect my phone it automatically pops up. It would also help when there is an issue and you need to disconnect and reconnect it, pull the usb and plug it back in, and never take your eyes from the road.
For now, the call button (and as I figured out yesterday, immediately the hang up button) feels "safer"
Correct me if I'm wrong (I was excited to see Phone Projection in that list too) but it only switches the Audio, and only to the split screen on the right of the main window, it will not bring up AA in the main window (or the default App, Waze) without further interaction. You can also hit the mode button on your steering wheel.
