Why can’t I open the doors with the fob? (With video)

The engine is running, the doors are locked. I want to open the sliding door and nothing will open it. I can’t even unlock the car with the fob. Here’s an example video

You probably accidentally bumped the power door off button with your knee or pressed it when trying to open the liftgate. I've done that a time or two.

Thanks I’ll check that. I don’t think I did though. To fix it, I pressed unlock from inside the car and then everything worked. If you want to try it I had the engine running and doors locked, then get out and nothing works.

Is it still a problem after you got it work inside the car? If it only worked inside the car that makes me think the fob battery might be low and have a low signal. There's a radius that the fob can be used within. Not sure though. Check the power door off if it happens again.

Nothing worked because you had the doors locked with the engine running. The key fob is disabled after you start the vehicle and get inside. It's a safety feature which cannot be bypassed. If the engine is running and the car is parked, simply unlock the doors before you try to open them. You can set the car to unlock automatically when you shift to park to save a step.

Thanks for confirming that it is not a problem. It’s hard to get used to the locks on this car. When I get out, I’m used to pressing the lock button on the inside of the door. That’s have I’ve done it on my 12 other vehicles I’ve owned over the last 20 years but it doesn’t work for some reason so I have to use the fob.

Then in this scenario it’s opposite. Only the interior lock button works and none of the other ones do. I’ve owned 4 minivans and this is the only one that won’t lock if a door is open. Such a poorly designed lock system.
